Since 1986, the United States Mint has produced the official silver bullion coin of the United States government - the Silver American Eagle, or American Silver Eagle (ASE). This silver coin has gained popularity over the years, and has been released in bullion form, proof form, and uncirculated form. Sought after by collectors, the ASE is set to make a big splash when the 25th Anniversary 5-coin set is released.

Most collectors cite the beauty of the ASE as a strong reason for its popularity. As a form of bullion, the ASE has a legal tender value of $1 per one ounce coin, and is backed by the United States government for weight and purity.
